Tell us what you do!
I create. From fashion blogging, to photography, to acting — I love to invent.
Did you go to college? If so, where?
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you “grew up”?
An actress or a fashion designer.
How did you get to where you are now? Tell us your story!
Passion and a love of all things creative. Acting led to styling, led to photography, led to blogging. With a whole lot of life, and twists, and turns along the way. That is my story in a nutshell!
Any obstacles along the way?
So many. I take the obstacles, and try to figure out a way around them.
Who is your idol?
Again, so many. Strong individuals that push forward. Women who get things done, despite the road blocks in front of them. I admire Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Hillary Clinton, Amber Venz Box, Shonda Rhimes, and so many more.
What are three personal traits/qualities that helped you get to where you are?
Never letting the word “No” stop me. Allowing myself time to digest the things that don’t go my way, so I can then move forward. Loyalty.
Where would you like to be in five years?
This has changed just in the last couple months. Professionally, still creating at a higher level. Personally, creating with a life partner.
Define “Girl Boss” in your own words.
A gal who takes charge of her own destiny.
Describe your style/fashion sense:
A modern mix between masculine and feminine.
Fav clothing item/accessory right now?
My Michael Kors gold watch and old ripped denim.
What’s your can’t-live-without beauty product?
M.A.C. Face & Body Foundation. It’s sheer and dewy.
Go-to nail color?
Right now, dark browns and earth tones.
Sophia Amoruso’s #GIRLBOSS inspired me. What book has inspired you?
There is a book called The Gift of Fear by Gavin De Becker. I read it years ago, and it’s all about trusting your instincts in every situation, and that your first instinct is usually right. I’m in the middle of reading #GIRLBOSS right now — really love it.
No Girl Boss is perfect. What’s your vice?
Definitely sweets. I will eat dessert for dinner any day. Very bad.
Which artist/band/DJ are you really into right now?
Jhené Aiko. She has the most beautiful, pure voice I have ever heard!
What song makes you feel like a Girl Boss?
I’m really into 90s female rap right now. Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Queen Latifah. Even though the songs are super explicit (I try to download the clean versions), they are strong, and have a take-no-prisoners attitude. For now, I am loving it!
What’s a quote that inspires/motivates you?
“If we wait for the moment when everything — absolutely everything — is ready, we shall never begin.” It’s an Ivan Turgenev quote.
Best advice you’ve ever received? And who gave it to you?
It’s actually advice that Joan Rivers gave me. I met her for five minutes. She said, “Honey, don’t ask. Just do it, and apologize later.” I’ll never forget it.
Advice to future Girl Bosses:
I will pass along the advice that the great Joan Rivers gave to me. Just do it and apologize later.
